The Tamang Society of America (TSA) has raised serious concerns that the organization’s official social media accounts and email communications remain under the control of Chandani Lama, despite her removal from the position of General Secretary.
According to TSA, the current Executive Board was elected on March 16, 2025, and provided Chandani Lama with access to the organization’s official social media accounts and email platforms as part of her responsibilities as an Executive Board officer. The access was granted for handling the Society’s day-to-day administrative work, official communications, and organizational operations. TSA maintains that these accounts and credentials belong to the organization and that access was provided in an official capacity, not as personal ownership or permanent control.
Following an Executive Committee meeting held on July 11, 2026, the Executive Board decided by a two-thirds majority to suspend Chandani Lama from the position of General Secretary. The suspension became effective on July 12, 2026, pending further decision by the organization.
In the suspension letter, TSA cited concerns regarding the alleged dissemination of misleading information about organization officials through the Society’s official email and Facebook page. The letter also warned that any misuse of organizational resources during the suspension period could result in necessary legal action.
On August 9, 2026, the TSA Executive Board took further action and, by a two-thirds majority vote, removed Chandani Lama from her position, along with two other officers and four advisors. According to TSA leadership, the decision was made in connection with what the Board describes as an unauthorized and unofficial Special Annual General Assembly and concerns regarding actions that it says disrupted the organization’s unity and governance.
Following her suspension and subsequent removal, TSA leadership says it made repeated efforts to regain control of the organization’s official social media accounts, email accounts, and other digital credentials. According to the Executive Board, those efforts have not been successful because Chandani Lama has not cooperated with requests to return or transfer the organization’s credentials.
TSA leadership says the continued lack of access has created serious concerns about the security, accuracy, and authorization of information being distributed through the Society’s official communication platforms.
Official TSA Information and Communications
To avoid confusion and prevent the spread of unverified information, TSA is informing its members, community leaders, and the wider community that official announcements, notices, statements, and publications of the Tamang Society of America will be shared only through the Society’s official website, tamangsocietyofamerica.org, and through TSA President Tul B. Tamang.
The Executive Board urges community members not to rely on, share, or circulate information from disputed TSA social media accounts or email platforms unless the information has been independently verified through the Society’s official website or directly through President Tul B. Tamang.
TSA says it is continuing its efforts to recover all official social media accounts, email accounts, and related credentials. The organization says it will take appropriate administrative and legal steps, if necessary, to protect TSA’s official communication platforms, organizational records, and resources.
TSA leadership says its priority is to restore proper organizational control over all official communication channels and ensure that members and the wider community receive accurate, authorized, and verified information from the Society.
