The Tamang Society of America (TSA) warmly invites all community members, friends, and well-wishers to join us for the Buddha Jayanti Celebration on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM at 41-01 75th Street, Elmhurst, NY 11373.
We are blessed to announce that the event will be held under the spiritual guidance of Dungzin Rinpoche and other esteemed Lama Gurus, who will lead the puja, prayers, Buddhist teachings, and meditation sessions.

This sacred event honors the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Lord Buddha.

The program will feature puja (prayers), Buddhist teachings, meditation sessions, and a community gathering dedicated to spreading the message of peace, compassion, and wisdom. It will be a moment for reflection, spiritual growth, and strengthening our community ties through Buddha’s timeless teachings.

In addition to celebrating Buddha Jayanti, we are proud to announce the launch of our Tamang Cultural and Buddhist Center (TCBC) Building Fundraiser. This center represents a dream for our future generations — a place for preserving Tamang culture, promoting Buddhist education, and fostering community unity.

We humbly encourage all attendees to support this meaningful cause. Donors contributing $500 or more will have their names respectfully recognized and recorded as part of the TCBC building project, a lasting tribute to their generosity and commitment to our heritage.

The Tamang Society of America has strongly condemned the recent decision by the Government of Nepal to dismiss Kulman Ghising, the Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), just four months before the completion of his tenure.

The organization considers this decision unjust and unacceptable, not only to Nepalese citizens residing in Nepal but also to those living abroad. Ghising is widely credited with ending up to 18 hours of daily electricity load shedding in Nepal, turning the previously loss-making NEA into a profitable entity, and implementing transformative initiatives in the power sector.

Under his leadership, Nepal’s electricity sector witnessed remarkable improvements, making his dismissal a matter of concern for the country’s future energy management. The Tamang Society of America believes that removing Ghising at such a critical time could negatively impact the progress made in the sector.

The organization has urged the Government of Nepal to reconsider its decision and reinstate Ghising, emphasizing that his expertise and leadership remain essential for the continued development of the nation’s electricity infrastructure.

Furthermore, the Tamang Society of America has called on all concerned individuals and organizations to unite and raise their voices in support of Kulman Ghising’s reinstatement.
